Skillet Sausage & Fennel Pizza

It’s football season and that means it’s the perfect time of year to DIVE into some D to the LISH pizza! I created this pizza awhile ago and have made it a few times since. The flavor combination is so unique with the spicy sausage and fennel. The red pepper adds a freshness and the two cheeses are the perfect, gooey addition! The homemade dough comes together so easy in the bread machine or make it even easier and purchase your dough already made! It only takes about 15-17 minutes to bake and you’ll be enjoying this as you watch your favorite team score those touchdowns 👏👏

Notes

  • I have some tips for your pizza dough! A lot of grocery stores sell pizza dough in the freezer section. So do your local pizza shops. What’s nice about your pizza shop is that the dough is ready to be stretched and placed in the oven immediately! I also have a pizza dough recipe that is my go to. I made this recipe using the dough cycle in my bread baker! I purchased my bread baker just for making pizza dough! LOL! Here is the recipe if you wanted to give it a try! 153 grams(1 cup + 1 Tbsp) of 00 flour, 153 grams (1 cup + 1 Tbsp & 2 tsp) of all purpose flour, 1 tsp of fine sea salt, 1 tsp of olive oil, 1 cup of lukewarm water and 3/4 tsp of instant yeast. Place water and olive oil in bread pan. Measure and weigh flours and mix together with salt. Add to bread pan and place yeast on top. Set to dough cycle and let it do it’s thing! If you wanted to make the dough without a bread baker, mix water, olive oil and yeast together in a small bowl. Stir together flours and salt. Add wet ingredients to dry ingredients and knead with your hands for 2-3 minutes. Rest for 15 minutes. Knead the rested dough for another 3 minutes until smooth. Form dough into a ball, sprinkle with flour, cover and rest for 3-4 hours.
  • You can make this pizza with your favorite toppings! But, I would recommend that you try the fennel! It’s super good!
