Tagliatelle Bolognese

Coming home from Italy, I have been so inspired to make all the amazing things we enjoyed while we were there. We had some friends over for dinner not long after we got home and I wanted to create a super easy and D to the LISH family style dinner of my favorite Tagliatelle pasta! I found some pasta at Home goods that was imported from Italy! Don’t sleep on the gourmet food sections at Home goods and TJ Maxx. You’ll be surprised what you find. I took a short cut on this bolognese with the help of a jar of Rao’s and it turned out D to the LISH! I blended spicy Italian sausage with lean ground beef for the most incredible, meaty sauce that clung perfectly to the pasta! The next time you’re in the mood for a big bowl of comforting pasta, invite your friends over and feature this on your menu with a bright, green salad and a basket of garlic knots!

Ingredients

  • 1 lb 1 Tagliatelle Pasta

  • 1 1 Small Yellow Onion, Diced

  • 4 4 Cloves Garlic, Minced

  • 1 lb 1 Spicy Italian Sausage

  • 1 lb 1 93% Lean Ground Beef

  • 1 cup 1 Shredded Carrot

  • 2 Tbsp 2 Tomato Paste

  • 2 tsp 2 Italian Seasoning

  • 1/2 tsp 1/2 Cinnamon

  • S&P to Taste

  • 1/2 cup 1/2 Dry Red Wine, Like Chianti or Cabernet

  • 24 oz 24 Rao’s Marinara

  • 1/2 cup 1/2 Grated Parmesan Cheese

  • 1/4 cup 1/4 Heavy Cream

  • Serve with Fresh Basil and a Shower of Grated Parm

Directions

  • To begin, preheat dutch oven to medium/high heat with a splash of olive oil. Add diced onion and sauté until translucent
  • Remove sausage from casings and add to pot along with ground beef. Break up and brown along with the minced garlic
  • Add shredded carrot and sauté until just starting to soften
  • Add tomato paste and all seasonings. Stir well and add red wine. Simmer for about 3 minutes and add marinara
  • Stir everything together and turn to low. Place lid on and simmer for at least 2 hours and up to 4. The longer you simmer, the deeper the flavors will be
  • 30 minutes before you want to eat, place a large stock pot of water on the stove. Bring to boil and liberally salt the water. Add your pasta and cook to al dente
  • While pasta is cooking, add parmesan cheese and heavy cream in your bolognese and stir well. Using tongs, remove tagliatelle from your stock pot and place directly in your dutch oven with the bolognese. Toss well and ladle into pasta bowls. Enjoy!
