Surf n Turf Burgers

My favorite dinner of all time is surf n turf! I love a juicy crab cake or king crab leg with a filet. That is what fueled my idea for these burgers! I thought, why not pile a rich, buttery crab cake right on top of a juicy burger with all the fixins! A one stop surf n turf shop, ya know?! I created this crab cake recipe based off the best crab cake I’ve ever had IN MY LIFE! It was at Faidley’s in Baltimore, MD. That’s where you’re going to get the best crab cakes. They’re loaded with jumbo lump crab meat, limited filler and sooo much flavor! I make these crab cakes every holiday to side with our prime rib. I just knew these would be the ticket to top on the yummy burgers. I whipped together my easy tartertail sauce and finished these beauties off with the normal burger fixin’s. The pretzel roll added another layer of richness that just slammed these burgers into a home run! Give these a try today and see why they need to be on your repeat list of MUST MAKES!

  • 1 tsp 1 SPG Seasoning(I use Kinders The Blend)

  • *For the Crab Cakes

  • 1 lb 1 Jumbo Lump Crab Meat

  • 1/2 cup 1/2 Dukes Mayo

  • 1 1 Egg

  • 1 Tbsp 1 Worcestershire Sauce

  • 1 Tbsp 1 Stone Ground Mustard

  • 1 cup 1 Crushed Saltine Crackers

  • *For the Tartertail Sauce*

  • 1/4 cup 1/4 Tarter Sauce

  • 2 Tbsp 2 Cocktail Sauce

  • 1 1 Package of 4 Pretzel Rolls

  • 4-8 4-8 Slices of Pepper Jack & Sharp Cheddar Cheese

  • Lettuce, Red Onion & Tomato for Garnish

Directions

  • To begin, assemble your crab cakes by mixing all wet ingredients together. Crush your crackers. Pick through your crab to ensure all shells are removed. Add crab to bowl and mix with wet ingredients. Add cracker crumbs and gently fold in. Using a large cookie scoop, form crab cakes and place on parchment lined baking sheet. Place a pat of salted butter on top of each crab cake and place tray covered in the fridge until you’re ready to broil and assemble your burgers
  • Mix your seasoning in with your burger and form into 2-4 patties depending on how many you’re serving.
  • Wash and prep your veggies
  • Mix your tartertail sauce together and set aside until needed
  • Preheat your stove top to medium high and place your skillet on stove to heat through. At the same time, preheat your broiler to high for your crab cakes
  • Place burgers in your skillet and pan fry or grill 5-7 minutes per side depending on how well done you like your burgers. Melt 2 slices of cheese on your burgers.
  • While burgers are frying, broil your crab cakes for about 10 minutes until all the butter is melted and your cakes are nice and browned on the top
  • To assemble burgers, place tartertail sauce on the bottom bun along with your lettuce, tomato and onion. Top with burger, followed by crab cake. Gently smash down your bun to spread your crab cake out onto the burger and GO IN FOR THAT BIG MAMMOTH BITE!!
