Ingredients

  • 1 lb 1 Pizza Dough(See Notes)

  • 1 1 Boneless Skinless Chicken Breast Grilled

  • 1 cup 1 Hot Sauce(I used Franks Red Hot)

  • 1/4 cup 1/4 Melted Butter

  • 8 oz 8 Mozzarella Cheese

  • 1/4 cup 1/4 Sliced Red Onion

  • 6 oz 6 Colby Cheese Cubes

  • 1/4 cup 1/4 Blue Cheese Crumbles

  • Olive oil for coating pan

  • Green Onion for Garnish

Directions

  • To begin, preheat oven to 450 degrees. In a metal 13×9 cake pan, spray with olive oil and sprinkle with some semolina if needed. Press dough into pan
  • Whisk melted butter into hot sauce and pour half onto dough. Brush to cover within 1/2″ of edges
  • Grill chicken and slice. Mix chicken in remaining hot sauce
  • Sprinkle mozzarella cheese onto pizza and top with chicken and sliced red onion
  • Place colby cheese cubes all around the outer edge of pizza to get that cheesy, crispy crust and sprinkle a few in the center
  • Sprinkle some blue cheese crumbles on pizza and place in oven. Bake for 15-18 minutes until crust is browned on the outer edges and cheese is melted
  • Garnish with green onions and drizzle with blue cheese dressing or ranch dressing for even more layers of flavor

Notes

  • I have some tips for your pizza dough! A lot of grocery stores sell pizza dough in the freezer section. So do your local pizza shops. What’s nice about your pizza shop is that the dough is ready to be stretched and placed in the oven immediately! I also have a pizza dough recipe that is my go to. I made this recipe using the dough cycle in my bread baker! I purchased my bread baker just for making pizza dough! LOL! Here is the recipe if you wanted to give it a try! 153 grams(1 cup + 1 Tbsp) of 00 flour, 153 grams (1 cup + 1 Tbsp & 2 tsp) of all purpose flour, 1 tsp of fine sea salt, 1 tsp of olive oil, 1 cup of lukewarm water and 3/4 tsp of instant yeast. Place water and olive oil in bread pan. Measure and weigh flours and mix together with salt. Add to bread pan and place yeast on top. Set to dough cycle and let it do it’s thing! If you wanted to make the dough without a bread baker, mix water, olive oil and yeast together in a small bowl. Stir together flours and salt. Add wet ingredients to dry ingredients and knead with your hands for 2-3 minutes. Rest for 15 minutes. Knead the rested dough for another 3 minutes until smooth. Form dough into a ball, sprinkle with flour, cover and rest for 3-4 hours.
  • Don’t skip the colby cheese cubes on the edge of this pizza. This is how you get the trademark crispy, cheesy Detroit style crust! In my opinion, this is the BEST part of the pizza!
  • Use a metal cake pan for this pizza as this is what will help contribute to the crispy crust that you want to achieve for this Detroit style pizza.
  • You can use any type of chicken you want on this pizza. Rotisserie would work as well as pre grilled chicken from the bag. You have options to make putting this pizza together a breeze!
